Sample - To configure a hospitality device

To configure a hospitality device (e.g. devices provided to the hotel guests), use the steps and checklist to help your configuration. In most cases, you will need a dashboard or home app to take control the device.

Use the steps and checklist to help you set up your configuration

  1. Do you want to add your branded app to the home screen?
  2. Do you want to remove all icons and widgets on home screen?
  3. Do you want to change the system wallpaper to match your business branding?
  4. Do you want to keep the wallpaper without the user being able to change it?
  5. Do you want to launch your branded app automatically after device configuration is complete?
  6. Do you want to prevent your users from uninstalling your branded app?
  7. Do you want to add your brand website or other websites as bookmarks on the home screen?
  8. Do you want to wipe the previous user data after the device has not been used for some time?
    • NOTE − Your app needs to handle the Intent separately, and call the wipeApplication Data() API.
  9. Do you want the tablet to only connect to pre-defined Wi-Fi access points?
  10. Do you want to restrict any operations or settings on the device?
  11. Do you want to set your branded app as the home app?

Checklist

Use this sample checklist to make sure you've configured all the features and settings for your hospitality device.

Home screen

  • Set home screen icons.
  • Remove all icons and widgets from the home screen.
  • Set the wallpaper.
  • Disable the Change Wallpaper option.

Apps and Content

    • Auto-launch the app after configuration completes.
    • Prevent apps from being uninstalled.
    • Add website bookmark.

Display and Sound

  • Set inactivity timeout.

Device connectivity

  • Configure network information (SSID, password).

Professional Kiosk Mode

  • Enable Professional Kiosk Mode.
  • Set Home Activity.
